Oliver Stone Arrested

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.- Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and driving while intoxicated, police said Saturday. Stone, 58, was arrested Friday night at a police checkpoint on Sunset Boulevard after showing signs of alcohol intoxication, police Sgt. John Edmundson said. A search of his Mercedes turned up drugs, Edmundson said. He did not specify what kind, but Lt. Micaela Garland said police confiscated pills that were being analyzed at a lab.

Stone was released Saturday morning after posting $15,000 bail.

A message left Saturday with Stone's agent David Styne was not immediately returned.

In 1999, the filmmaker pleaded guilty to drug possession and no contest to driving under the influence and was ordered into a rehabilitation program.

Stone's films include the recent ``Alexander,'' ``JFK'' (1991) and ``Natural Born Killers'' (1994). He won Academy Awards for directing in 1989 for ``Born on the Fourth of July'' and in 1986 for ``Platoon,'' which also won the Oscar for best picture. He lives in Santa Monica.

According to sources, Paris' performance in the advert for eatery Carl's Jr., has made it too explicit to air.

Animal rights campaigner Pamela Anderson was horrified when she was asked to shoot a television scene with a live chimpanzee - and abruptly refused.

Anderson, famed for her work with People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), has been filming US television show Stacked with actor Christopher Lloyd, who plays a retired scientist traumatised by memories of sending primates into outer space for NASA.

Anderson was keen to raise awareness of the terrifying tests animals are subjected to, but she refused to go any further with the show until an alternative to a live chimp was found.

A source tells gossip site The Scoop: "Pam was fine about portraying the tests as frightening, but she drew the line at using a real chimp on the show.

"Pam said: 'I asked them to lose the chimp. We've replaced him with a robot! The scenes are much funnier with the robot anyway - it's a very sci-fi vibe.'"
